Stripping Furniture with Ease

One of the best features of Chalk Paint® is the fact that there is very little (if any) prep work when using it on a piece of furniture. There are times, however, when removing old paint and/or stain is necessary. Maybe you've decided that you want a wood grain finish on your final project piece. There's nothing wrong with that!

Blue Bear Stripper & CleanerWhen it comes to stripping off that old finish, one of our favorite products here at Restored Home is Franmar's Blue Bear Paint & Urethane Stripper (Soy Gel). It is great for effectively removing multiple layers of paint, varnish, enamel, urethane, other single-component coatings, and even lead based paint. It is non-caustic, bio-degradable, and has no toxic fumes! You can even use it indoors. No need to carry that piece of furniture out in the yard...work on it right inside of your home! (Just be sure to cover your work area). Pair the Soy Gel stripper with Franmar's Blue Bear Cleaner & Degreaser Concentrate and you've got the perfect system for preparing and transforming that old furniture piece into a masterpiece!

This video from the folks at Franmar will walk you through the process from start to finish.
