I'm Rhonda McCleskey, the founder of Restored Home Interiors. When I lost my job after two decades in the corporate world, I knew big changes were ahead. I wasn't sure what they were, but I had faith that we would get through them.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5
Following this unexpected turn of events, my husband and I decided to step back and reevaluate our family and our future. We began to look for ways for me to be at home with our children while continuing to bring in some income to help bridge the gap. We sold off our luxuries and began the fine art of living more frugally. In an effort to supplement our income, I began The Diva Cheesecake Company from our home. The business fed many happy customers as well as my own creativity, but something still just didn't feel right.
I've always had an insatiable drive for decorating, so with a very limited budget and a lot of zeal, I took on the challenge of redecorating our home during this season of "abundant time but less-than-abundant funds." The internet became my virtual storefront as I further embraced the "out with the old and in with the new" philosophy that seemed to be a recurring theme in my life. Within two weeks I had emptied our home of our former provisions clearing the way for our new, fresh space. I combed through thrift shops, yard sales and frequently checked in with my old buddies, Craig and Will (Craigslist and Goodwill) for "new-to-me" furnishings.
I faithfully visited my favorite home decorating blogs and was almost immediately introduced to Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. I had to check it out! Once I tried it, I never went back. I painted everything that wasn't nailed down (and a few things that were)! In fact, I used it SO much that I was asked to become a "Stockist", or Retailer of the line. It seemed that my extreme home makeover had spilled over to other areas of my life. God's plan and provision, for sure!
I continued to paint and refresh furniture with this beloved line of paint for my friends, and then their friends, and then THEIR friends. And thus, Restored Home Interiors was born. After a few short months, it became clear that we needed a retail space. In April 2012 we opened our first shop. We added classes to the mix and have been growing exponentially ever since. By late 2012 we were already needing to expand and we moved into a 3,000 square foot retail space and celebrated our second Grand Opening on November 10, 2012. God continued to bless and we continued to grow and in the Fall of 2014 we moved again to the Clear Lake area and celebrated our third Grand Opening on November 8th. What an amazing journey this has been and continues to be!
Fast forward to the present. We have settled into our new location quite well and have become a new destination to stop and shop for all of your home decor, home accents, and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. We offer interior design services, custom furniture makeovers, in-home cabinet painting and faux finishing services for every surface in your home. In addition to that, we still carry our beloved Chalk Paint® and have added Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, Modern Masters Metallics, General Finishes products and many other D-I-Y accessories. We are still your "go-to" for Chalk Paint® workshops and are currently adding a full lineup of new classes to include many of our other products. We give all the credit to God for our many great successes; we did our small part and He did the rest!
We look forward to building lasting relationships with our customers for many years to come! Please stop and see us. We have a fabulous team and we are all anxious to help you in any way that we can.
